  4. 4Clear your existing name completely.

Why PUBG Uses a Different Symbol Set

PUBG Mobile's name validator uses a character allowlist rather than a blocklist. This means only specific Unicode code points are permitted — everything else is rejected by default. The allowed list consists primarily of:

  • Katakana characters (ツ シ ジ ッ) — widely used in Japanese gaming culture and already in mobile system fonts
  • CJK Unified Ideographs (王 女 文 气 爪 乇 ム 乙) — Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters present in every Asian-market device
  • Specific Latin Extended characters (Ø Ł Ð ɧ) — European letters that look like symbols in gaming contexts
  • Special Unicode symbols (ʚ ॐ 卍 īlī ٭ ๛) — individually approved by PUBG's content team for the Asian market
  • Japanese punctuation and brackets (の 々 〆 ゞ ・ 「」『』《》) — part of standard Japanese text encoding

Free Fire, by contrast, uses a broader Unicode range that includes the decorative bracket characters (꧁ ꧂ ঔৣ ༺ ༻) popular in South Asian gaming communities. These work in FF but not in PUBG. This is why names from Free Fire name generators often look broken when pasted into PUBG Mobile.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I copy and paste symbols into PUBG Mobile?
Click any symbol on this page to copy it. Open PUBG Mobile, go to Profile → Edit Name, clear the current name, and paste with a long-press → Paste on mobile. The symbol will appear in the name field ready to confirm.
Can I use these symbols in BGMI (India)?
Most symbols work in both PUBG Mobile (global) and BGMI (India). However, BGMI has stricter validation on some characters. If a symbol is rejected in BGMI, try an alternative from the same category.
Why do some PUBG symbols not appear the same on all devices?
PUBG renders names using a fixed in-game font. Some Unicode characters that display correctly in your phone's system UI may look different (or as a box) in PUBG's custom font. ツ シ 彡 王 乇 are guaranteed to render in PUBG's font system.
